I have a beautiful book called The Radiance Sutras, an ancient meditation and yoga text, interpreted by Lorin Roche. It’s a poetic, sacred rendering of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, and I often turn to it when I’m seeking divine wisdom.
I treat it like an oracle. Sometimes I’ll simply close my eyes, set an intention, and flick through the pages, letting the words meet me where I am.
Right now, I’m away from home without my usual copy, but I do have it on Kindle.
So today, I closed my eyes and allowed a number to arise…
… 12 …
That led me to Yukti 12, which I want to share with you here:
☀️
There is a current of love-energy that flows
Between Earth below and Sun above.
The central channel of your spine is the riverbed.
The streaming is as delicate and powerful
As the tingling touch of lovers.
Entering here,
Radiance arches between above and below.
Your whole attention resting in the subtle,
Vibrating in the center of the spinal column,
Tracing this current between Earth and Sun,
Become magnetism relating all the worlds.

This verse made me smile. I'm familiar with this visualisation, connecting with the earth below and the sky above. It’s something I regularly do in my personal meditation practice. It feels like a way of honouring both realms, with my body as the bridge between them.
Often, I imagine my body as a tree held by Mother Earth. I imagine roots growing from my seat and my feet, descending deep into the soil, down to the very heart of the Earth. These roots intermingle with the energetic roots of others in my community, drawing nourishment, moisture, and minerals from below. Earth energy rises through my body, filling every cell, from my feet and legs to my torso, chest, shoulders, arms, and head.
Once I feel filled with this grounding Earth energy, my awareness naturally lifts upward, towards the light. I connect with the energy, not only of the sun, but of distant stars throughout space. Light from every corner of the universe streams into me, descending from the crown of my head, filling every cell down to my toes.
Then, in my heart centre, the two energies meet and mix, Earth and Sky, Yin and Yang, grounding and inspiration, combined and intertwined through the channel of my spine and channels sending it to every part of my body.
I often guide variations of this in group sessions, or use it as a grounding and heart-centring practice at the start of intuitive readings. I’ve also experienced similar versions at other people’s events. I imagine it’s a very ancient practice. It’s certainly a powerful one. That final line: “Tracing this current between earth and sun, become magnetism relating all the worlds”, reminds me of breath meditation, inhaling deeply into the Earth, exhaling back up to the sky.
How much deeper might our meditations become with this simple intention?
I am familiar with this practice, yet I can be a bit intermittent with it. So, as this beautiful reminder arose during my intuitive reading today, I intend to return to it and deepen with it this week with more mindfulness.
And I’d love to invite you to do the same.
Have you experienced anything like this before, or is this visualisation new to you? Would you like to give it a go?
I’d love to hear what arises for you.
Until next time,
Fiona ✨
