What happens when you travel through a Mercury Retrograde, and end your trip by accidentally locking all your valuables into a stranger’s motorbike?
Mercury Retrogrades never fail to surprise and keep me on my toes. This time I learned that Mercury might be mischievous, but it can also be magical when you surrender to its tricks.
In this video, I’m coming to you from the garden of Puri Mesari, our final stop in Bali, just after waving goodbye to my husband at the airport.
Today - 7th April 2025 - Mercury stations direct after approximately 3 weeks in retrograde. If you’re an astrology aficionado like myself, or friends with one, you will already know that this period is notoriously NOT the best time to travel - especially on the days it begins and ends, the days Mercury turns retrograde and direct again.
Even though I’m an astrologer, I don’t like to live in fear of planetary movements. Instead, in the spirit of the themes of Mercury, I take a more curious and experimental approach - to adopt a playful spirit with the planets, rather than be ruled by them.
We’ve been travelling throughout this entire Mercury Retrograde. And yes, there’ve been a few travel hiccups and delays. A memorable moment was this morning when we locked our bag (complete with phone, wallet and keys) into someone else’s identical motorbike as we were rushing to catch the sunrise on our final morning together.
But we adapted and scribbled a note, let go of our plans, adjusted our sails and trusted it would work out. Spoiler: it did! We ended up having a good laugh about it.
That’s the magic of Mercury Retrograde when you sidestep the potential for doom and gloom-mongering over inevitable mishaps and choose to meet it with a sense of humour, flexibility and willingness to go off-script.
Not everyone enjoys that level of uncertainty - and that's okay - but if you're someone who can find a sense of flow in the chaos, especially if you have an emphasis on Mercury-ruled signs like Gemini or Virgo in your astrology chart, it can be a weirdly wonderful time.
In this video, I share:
